Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located on Greig Farm at 148 Pitcher Lane in Red Hook, NY.

Wednesday-Friday 11-5, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-4.
How does bulk refill work in-store?
When you come into the shop in person, you have the option of bringing your own containers from home - a lot of customers like to bring them in fully empty, but it doesn’t matter to us if it’s empty, half full, etc. since we will just tare (weigh) it before filling it with anything in the shop. Just keep in mind that the scent of your old detergent/soap may mix into whatever new product you refill it with. If you forgot to rinse out your container at home, you can use our sink to do so. It’s best to use containers you already have lying around at home, like empty laundry detergent containers, or hand soap, body wash, shampoo, lotion, containers - or even just random jars and other containers that you’ve been collecting because you can’t bear to throw them into the recycling bin. It’s really up to you what you want to use! If you can’t find any containers at home to use, or you forgot them but happen to be visiting the store, no worries! We have a bin of free containers that is donation sourced from the community, and we also have a selection of containers and jars that you can purchase and fill up.
When you decide on a container, just bring it up to the front counter and we will get it weighed for you on our scale. Then, depending on what you’d like filled - we will do the filling for you or you can fill it yourself. There are a few things that are easy to fill on your own, but in most cases the pumps can be difficult to figure out or easy to spill liquid from - so it saves time and mess if we help you out! Once your container is filled with however much product you want, bring it back up to the counter and we will get it weighed again and price it out for you based on that weight. Most of the bulk products in the store are priced by weighted ounce.
How does pricing work for bulk refill?
Pretty much all of our products are priced by weighted ounce, so we will just tare your container before filling it, and then weigh it afterwards to figure out how many ounces of product you are purchasing. The price of each product is either listed directly on the label of the bulk container, or on a price sheet displayed nearby. Prices vary by product and brand, so if you ever can’t find the price of a product, please ask us!
I stopped by the store on my way home, but forgot my containers!
or: I’m visiting from out of town and would like to fill up something but didn’t bring a container! what do i do?
No worries! We have containers for free in the store that you can go through and pick out (these are by donation, so selection varies), or you can purchase from the selection of glass jars and containers or aluminum bottles in store.
I really need a refill, but you aren’t open! can i drop off my containers for you to refill and pick up when you are open?
Yup! Just give us a call, shoot us an email, or message us on Instagram (@theozonecenter), and we will get back to you about setting this up. Sometimes, we will be around even if the shop isn’t open, so just try calling or messaging us and we can see if we can get you your bulk refill.
You can drop off the containers at our door and either tell us in your message or leave a note of what you want. Make sure to specify how much you want (full, half full, etc.) of each product, which product goes in which container, and specifically which product you’d like and in what scent if applicable. Just make sure we have your contact info for if we have any questions or if something is out of stock and we need you to pick a different option.
do i have to fill the container completely full?
Nope! It doesn’t matter to us how much or how little you fill your containers, as long as we can get the weight for the pricing.
can you label my containers?
Yes! You can also label them at home if that’s easier - using a Sharpie, or even sticker labels prove to be very helpful. If you forget, we have some sticker labels at the shop for free, or you can add on a fancy embossed label to your order for $1 extra.
what are the different options for laundry detergent?
We have an array of laundry products for you and your family! We source one scented (Lavender) and one unscented (Free & Clear) option from ECOS, which are both 2x concentrated and are the same price. For this product, you only need 1 oz per normal load of laundry for an HE washer, and 2 oz for a non HE washer (1oz is about 2 TBS!) We also source products from Sapadilla Soap Company and Common Good, which are both 3x concentrated. For these detergents, only 2/3 oz is needed for an HE washer or 11/3 oz for a non HE washer. If you’d prefer not to use liquid detergent, we also have bulk laundry powder from Meliora Cleaning Products in Lavender, Unscented, or Lavender Lemon Clove scents! You only need 1/2 Tbsp of powder per normal load of laundry for HE washers, and 1 TBS for non HE washers. We also sell a bleach alternative Oxygen Brightener from Meliora Cleaning Products, which works great for boosting colors and whites and neutralizing odors. It can also be used as a multi-purpose household cleaner! Please see our full list of bulk items for more information and for some more examples of containers available for purchase at the bottom of the page.

You can either sign up here, or come into the store and we will get you signed up in person, and answer any questions you may have about the program. We have a weekly commercial and residential local pick-up service, as well as a drop-off option. For more info on our Compost CSA, click here.
i signed up for your compost csa but i am not sure how to collect my food scraps.
No worries! If you ever have any questions, just ask us next time you stop in the shop or give us a call/send us an email. We send our compost to Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency (UCRRA), an industrial composting facility in Kingston, NY. Because of this, we accept things in our food scrap collection bins that would otherwise not work in backyard compost piles. This includes but is not limited to: dairy, meat, bones, cooked and uncooked foods, plate scrapings, and more! For a full guide on what we accept and do not accept in our food scrap collection bins, click here. At this time, UCRRA is not able to accept anything that does not break down within 90 days - this includes most compostable packaging and compostable trash bags (yes, unfortunately many of those products - even BPI Certified ones - do not break down quickly enough in a compost facility). If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
When it comes to knowing how to collect your household food scraps, there are several options. Many people like to have a countertop compost bin (sold in store) with a charcoal filter to prevent odors. This fills up in a few days to a week depending on how much you cook or how many people are in your household. You can also just use a container with a top that you may already have in your home. If you signed up for a residential pick-up service through us, we will provide you with a free 5-gallon bucket to dump your food scraps into when your kitchen or countertop bin fills up, and empty that out when we pick it up on either Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. Some people also like to keep their food scraps in the freezer in a bowl, container, or reusable bag until they can dump it into their larger bin or bring it to the drop-off site. This works well with preventing odors until you can give it a home in a compost pile.
