Our Commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion
Diversity Equity and Inclusion Statement:
At The O Zone Sustainability Center, we are passionate about creating a space and workplace that promotes and values diversity. Companies that are diverse in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective are proven to be better companies.
We believe that access to healthy and sustainable products is a basic human right, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, or disability, and that they are not currently largely accessible to all. We are committed to ethical, sustainable, and diverse sourcing of our products from manufacturers around the country, as well as selling and making products that can be effectively used by all people regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, or disability. We offer multiple options for our products from different price ranges without sacrificing safety, quality, or accessibility. If you or someone you know would like to be featured as a vendor or local artist in our shop, please reach out!
Other than our retail shop, we are also a community learning center and gathering place for those who want to share ideas, host classes, and more. Our goal is to be a place that is welcoming and inclusive to people with all backgrounds to come share their ideas, host classes, and meet together to share their experiences. For example, we host a monthly meeting called Farm Folks where those in underrepresented groups in farming and agriculture in the Hudson Valley can meet and share ideas, stories, experiences, and advice. The group is open to all women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ folks and others working in agriculture or the local food industry or those interested in exploring opportunities in agriculture. We are committed to featuring those from all backgrounds in future events at our space. If you or someone you know is interested in hosting an event, please reach out!
We acknowledge that we do not have all of the answers, but are committed to transparency, an open dialogue, receiving continuous feedback, improving upon it, and constantly challenging ourselves to do and be better.
We want to hear from you. How do you think we can improve? Reach out to us here!
